FORSEFIELD HIGHLAND RAILWAY
Planning
This was the beginning of planning my Dad's garden railway in June 2023. Working out where the railway would run and what materials would be needed to complete the track bed. Its always hard to see in pictures but the hardest challenge to this would be the slope and level of the garden.
Garden workshop
Next, we removed the old shed and started to dig and level the ground for the garden workshop. In these pictures you can see the slope of the garden better. I measured the rail height needed at the highest point of the garden and levelled it down from there.
Brain's Bridge
For me, Brian's bridge, was the most enjoyable part to build for the railway. In memory of my step Grandad Brian who enjoyed building things from wood like dolls houses and coffee tables. So I knew the bridge needed to be wood construction which is why I choose a truss designed bridge. Made from 15mm x 15mm and 6mm x 15mm wood with concrete for the feet.
